Certification
Frequently Asked Questions.
Claris takes a modern approach to certification.
As we transition away from one single certification, we're introducing new ways to learn and achieve Claris certifications. We're offering new certifications aligned with the expanded capabilities of our platform and complementary to the diverse skills of our developers.
We’re modernizing certifications to better reflect advanced capabilities of our products and the varied and expert skills of our developers. While a singular certification served us well, we’ve outgrown it. A more diverse catalog of certifications will also open the doors for more people to explore certification. Plus, this new certification model is consistent with industry standards.
Yes, but for a limited time. This exam and certificate will retire at the end of the year. If you would like to earn this certificate, please register to take the exam. You must take and pass the exam on or before December 31, 2023. After this date, the exam will officially close.
No, with this transition, your current certification does not expire, and you do not need to retake the exam to maintain it. You’ll be issued a new digital badge through Credly recognizing this achievement and your skills with Claris FileMaker (up to version 19). We encourage you to accept and share your new badge wherever you wish.
Two new Claris certifications are available now, which are the first of many to come. The new certifications are specific to Claris FileMaker Pro and Claris Connect and will be the foundation for future certifications.
As we launch the new program, you have the option to earn two new Claris certifications – one focuses on Claris FileMaker Pro, and the other centers on Claris Connect.
- Claris App Developer: Claris FileMaker Pro Associate
- Claris App Developer: Claris Connect Associate
Going forward, these first two certifications will be the foundation for building more advanced and specialty certifications through 2023 and beyond.
Each certification will be supported by a focused Claris Academy course, including a graded assessment. If you complete the assessment with a passing score, you will earn a verified digital badge that can be shared publicly using Credly. You will be able to take the assessment with or without consuming the course material – depending on your experience level.
We’ll add more certifications through the end of 2023 and beyond to reflect the complete platform. The initial certifications – specific to Claris FileMaker Pro and Claris Connect – focus on foundational skills. Our plan is to introduce specialist and expert certifications for each of these products. Plus, we’ll also introduce new certifications for Claris Server and Claris Studio in the future and are considering unique specialties for additional offerings as the new certification program evolves.
To date, Claris offers certification in English or Japanese. Currently, the first two certifications are available worldwide in English through the Claris Academy. Opportunities for certification with content available in Japanese will begin in the first half of 2024.
